Re: Wolverine to Toronto?
One doesn't need a passport to enter Canada. For Michigan residents, the EDL is still a legal document allowing travel to and from Canada. A Nexus card can also be used, as can other documents, including but not limited to a passport. Not everyone who could use such a service would be a Michigan re...

Re: Auburn Road signals in Utica being removed
The "exempt" signs remove the requirement for buses and hazmat to stop at the crossing. One might as well read the signs as "bump" unless a train appears. (in this case, miraculously appears since it is disconnected rail.)

Re: Waterloo Frequency
Everything passing Waterloo should also go past Elkhart. Butler would have a few additional trains headed down to Fort Wayne, but there isn't a destination between Elkhart and Waterloo that would decrease the train count. As you mention, Elkhart gets a fair number of additional trains from the Mario...

Re: South Shore Double Track
Is there a reason they didn’t just have the gauntlet be the passenger loading track in this case, Aka the straight rail is the freight track away from the platform and the diverging move is the alignment up to the platform? Since all trains taking passengers stop at Ogden Dunes, this would have sav...

Elkhart's cameras may also help with the rock train, since they pass the cameras twice on the way through.
Sorry, I have not kept track of the days or the frequency.

Re: South Shore Double Track
Beverly Shores is great, only problem now is that the blue light is behind the pole line as viewed from approaching trains, and the call button is in the middle of the platform so the noobs will struggle to find it. Hmmm ... no sign to warn "fraudulent activation may result in prosecution" (and no ...

Re: Elkhart and Western question
Discussed recently on the Michigan board: http://railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=39428 When I used to drive to Elkhart and surrounding areas for delivery work on the regular, the E&W from Elkhart ran right by one of my stops. They were ALWAYS running Tuesday and Thursday. Not once did they...

Re: South Shore Double Track
I assume any ADA riders in Michigan City will start using the 11th St station instead of Shops. I agree that high level platforms benefit all passengers. They provide equal access for those with limited mobility and they reduce ADA related delays for non-mobility limited passengers. I remember the d...
