Re: Train Bulletin Board

100th St was Ross Station, 76th was Carlisle Station. Byron Center was on the NYC line. My mother's sister married an Andringa who's father-in- law owed the elevator at 76th St - nw quadrant. I remember going to their house on Sunday night and the train would come flying thru and shake their house -...

Re: GRE Amway yard

I don't believe Amway ever shipped anything out by rail. Quite a few intermodal trailers roll in and out although I don't know how the volume compares to the past.

Re: GRE Amway yard

90 car yard complete with a scale and the trackmobile. NS would send them a scale car occasionally. I haven't seen one for a while. Amway used to make a lot of their product at the plant. Mostly inbound covered hoppers of a soap ingredient. They don't make much if anything there anymore. The yard wa...

Re: Shortline Updates January 2021

It's an empty. Car trace shows it was supposed to go to the GR as a load. Instead went to "Wyoming" I'm guessing Victor Barnes on Porter. Then it came north. Y297 left it on the interchange track to get it out of the way? Standard had a car that was routed NS to Memphis to CSX. They delivered it to ...

Re: Shortline Updates January 2021

The addition of those 2 huge bins at King Milling need to be filled :). It definitely hs increased the inbound traffic. The area sure looks different with the old elevator behind the brewery on M-21 at the corner gone.

Re: Dispatching styles and the “RN”

Having worked towers, dispatching as a craft dispatcher, and chief dispatcher, I can say there is a different style of dispatching these days. When I was a chief, I had good dispatchers who were left alone, and dispatchers who I watched like a hawk. However they were still given the freedom to disp...

Re: CSX Plymouth sub train symbols (Early 2000's)

I hate to say it but should have routed it CN Toledo CSX. So you tell me why it was given to NS at Detroit when it was to interchange at Toledo? I forgot to include that one of my conversations with NS CS when it was in Elkhart the lady asked me where the car was going. me -the address on the waybi...

Re: CSX Plymouth sub train symbols (Early 2000's)

That is 47 days in transit, 17 day bad ordered. And folks wonder why customers pay more for truck delivery? I know for a fact a project was shut down over this lumber not showing up in a timely manner. Thanks for the run-down, I enjoy reading these. Incredible. CN and NS are outdoing themselves on ...

Re: Go Go Squeeze email stating rail service starting

I work with a customer on rail service. In the last 3 weeks I have 2 horror story's that would drive anyone to trucks regardless of cost. Worse than delivering and placing a loaded center beam from Alberta in a refinery on Delaware Bay in spite of being notified and then ............... sending it b...
