Highlights from the weekend

A friend had me over this weekend. We ended up catching 18 trains for the weekend. Sunday yielded 4 Southern Belle painted locomotives. We first got word of the pair on R132 from CSX2605. Shortly after, L132 arrived with another belle leading and just a couple minute behind him was a newer KCS belle...

Another short expedition in McCordsville

I went out to McCordsville this morning for about 2 and a half hours. The first hour and last half hour were very quiet, but the hour inbetween yielded 3 trains about 25 minutes apart. After an hour of nothing, the ID dispatcher crackled ovre the radio, telling Q348 he had the signal at 260. As soon...

Don't know about the area you are around, but Q132's power usually returns through Indianapolis 2-3 days after it originally went through.

Re: Unexpected surprise in McCordsville

Winter sun can't be beat when shooting an east west line like the Indy Line. You can literally shoot all day long if you know what you are doing, an Eastbound just before sunset? No problem! Don't be afraid to step away from the 3/4 wedge and don't attempt to shoot anything from the north side of t...

Unexpected surprise in McCordsville

Today, I had the oppurtunity to go out to the CSX Indianapolis Line for a couple of hours. Knowing there was an eastbound coke train in Avon, I figured that would be catch of the day. I was wrong. After Q358 went by, I heard "CSX ID Indianapolis Dispatcher to the E08602 CSX 4-5-9-0 over," crackle ov...

CN symbol help (only one)

While in Griffith, IN today, we shot a northbound CN on the EJE. It had 3 engines (leader was CN 2276) and 2 SD75I's. Up front were several loaded INRD coal hoppers, followed by a string of NS grain hoppers, then a bunch of freight. Any ideas on the symbol? Thanks for any help!

Rockford Area operations

May be going up to visit some family around Rockford some time in the near future. I see there are a whole bunch of lines coming into and out of the city. Would anyone be willing to provide a list of operations in the area? Thanks!

FXE 4092

FXE 4092 was trailing a UP motor on Tuesday's Q132. The unit was not on yesterday and that train should have been annulled for today. So does anyone know if it is on Q131 tomorrow?

Re: UP train hits parade float

While watching the Today show yesterday morning, one of the victims and his attorney were interviewed. From what I heard, the victim is planning on suing the railroad because the grade crossing does not give enough warning to the approaching train.

Does anyone know the symbol for the CN local that interchanges with the INRD at Newton? And if any other extra trains run that line? Thanks!
