Re: Kenton, OH in the PC era

Not railroad related but if you look in big cities like Columbus, look at the large number of neighborhoods demolished to construct the interstates. That's amazing. I'm assuming you saw the houses/farms that were where Buckeye Yard was built? Makes you wonder how much the railroad paid property own...

Re: Kenton, OH in the PC era

Anyone have any idea of the track layout at Berwick? You could go all four directions except north on the Big 4 to South on the T&OC. (Big 4 being the Sandusky line and T&OC being the Stanley-Thurston line) I would recommend checking out a website called Historic Aerials. There are Google Earth sty...

Thank you very much for sharing. Certainly seem like those trains are down to once each way a week with a bonus coal train.

Re: NS on the CF&E Updated

Should have another 66X traversing the territory under cover of darkness tonight. About a month ago there was a 22D/25M combo that was nothing but Maersk containers. Supposedly Harrisburg-Rickenbacker via Bucyrus. I saw 22D in Marion once and according to ATCS it came around the connection at Colsan.

Re: NS Lake Division question

Buter is the Lake-Dearborn Division line on the Hutington District although I think for now the entire thing is still dispatched from Ft. Wayne. But once the transfer to Dearborn is done will there be any additional dispatching desks or just some reshuffling?

Not really. The RM dispatcher channel is 161.370 but all trains will call signals over the radio on 160.230.

Re: NS increases traffic on former Nickel Plate line

Has the train traffic remained high on this line? Not apparent to me. I was at Vermilion Saturday June 20 from 7am to 4pm and out of the 36 I had, only one was straight NKP. What time do 20R, 20Q, 206, 24Z, and 22K come through the Chicago Line? I only saw 24M and 20E, and please do a trip-reports ...

No way you would have seen Q009 in Marion. That is a straight-to-BNSF in Chicago UPS/trailer train that runs through Fostoria/Deshler, etc.

It's a busy place (fast track up there too). Just go there and you will be happy. Lots more CSX trains than NS though.

Re: Who operated the W&LE east of Bellevue in the N&W era?

The "new" Wheeling & Lake Erie didn't begin until 1990, so those lines were operated by N&W/NS.

Re: Fostoria dispatch Tower to close March 31-2015.

CSX’s local control tower in Fostoria, one of the last of its kind on the railroad’s entire system Am I missing something... Does Delray not count? I'm assuming that there is a differemce between "local control tower" and a true Interlocking tower then? No, you're right. Delray is something similar.

A shadow of its former self, Pullman Jct. is where the Nickel Plate connects with the BRC and crosses the Chicago Rail Link (on a former Rock Island line) on the south side. Just curious but where did you get this information because it seems a bit dated. I don't ever remember a 17D on the Sandusky ...

Both should be fine to run ATCS. It's not a terribly powerful program that older Windows computers should run fine.

Re: UP Repaints the remaining Espee Units

Did it get renumbered or what? I saw an SP patch unit a week ago Friday on an NS train. Given the paint condition of some of the other units in UP's fleet of that age (I'm not just talking about the former SPs) I doubt they're in a huge rush to paint them. The title of this thread makes it sounds li...

Re: Elkhart, Ind.

BTW: The current dwarf can be "Stop", "Restricting" or "Slow Clear" (or as I like to call it, slow until clear). Which is good for the slow speed connection to the main line. This tells me as it stands now the turnout there isn't a limited speed switch, which on a high signal would necessitate thre...
