Grand Elk came out of Elkhart heading for Kzoo passing the Elkhart cam at 05:09 with 2 SD units and 52 cars including a little bit of everything. There was a run of 8 open top NS hoppers, 4 High Top types and 4 standards. I thought these were used for the glass cullet loading in Grand Rapids, but at...

End cab switchers, round roofed GP9s, and Budd built coach cars from the 1940s and 50s - it’s still a bit of a living history museum just across the river in Windsor! Thanks for sharing this photo set.

As someone who went to school for map making ( Ferris St. for photogrammetric mapping technology---a fancy term for making maps using aerial photos) it is a pet peeve of mine when maps aren't accurate... I did not know this was your educational skillset, Mr Buster! I may have to consult with you ab...

Re: GDLK Operations
Graphic traffic is supposed to pick up in the next week or so. Expect 105 to make more trips up there per week. I’ve seen a couple of Michigan-bound Elk trains passing the Elkhart railfan camera recently with healthy cuts of the Thiele tank cars which typically go to Graphic Packaging in Kalamazoo....

Re: Carleton, MI railfan meet
FWIW sometimes railfan meets are more about the camaraderie than about total train counts. Why did we ever meet in Durand (or any other place in Michigan) instead of just doing Fostoria or the Water Level Route? Granted, I don’t think Branch, Greenbush, or Thompsonville would make good gathering loc...

Late report, but Grand Elk was Michigan-bound passing the Elkhart camera at 04:34 this morning. 3 units led by the WSOR SD40-2 and about 55 cars. I counted about 10 of those Thiele tank cars that bring the slurry up to Graphic Packaging. Has there been any increase in their railcar traffic since the...

I just wanted to add a few more frames to this thread, in case I don't get back to the other side of the border before the new VIA Charger/Venture equipment starts on the Windsor-Toronto segment of the Corridor. Train 73 is shown making its arrival to the Walkerville Station back on October 27, 2023...

I just don’t understand why anyone would even think to want to trespass at Waverly. Everyone always knows what power is assigned there because it is reported regularly on this board. With work radiating out on tentacle lines in every compass direction, it’s not hard to see the power or any rando int...

Hello this is GRHC from the present and I would like to know if the interchange talked about in the above post is still active now that the Jackson and Lansing railroad has taken over the line. It is! Here's a great picture of it in action. That’s a great photo of Hollow Yard, Mr. Anderson! But tha...
