Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
I have been following the ND & thread since the beginning, in fact it's the only real thread I read on this site. I have a question maybe someone from the ND & W area can help with. I've decided that I want to model this line in proto 87 or close scale. I've looked on line bing wikimapia google eart...

Re: IC&E, DM&E SD40-2's Going... Gone
We started rounding up all ICE power last week funneling it towards south Dakota. Not the best power we own but, desperately needed since we leased out good power to BNSF, and still have the remanets' of the 60 fleet for sale or lease. At least it looks good for the stock holders

Re: Canadian Pacific is hiring
We do have some trouble with managers out here in the Dakotas but not so much at the local level. We have brought in alot of people from the CN and off the street. As for me I'm semi happier out in the Dakotas. Granted we have lost many guys from Enderlin and from the cities to the MRL. Only time wi...

Re: Canadian Pacific is hiring
We are hire for alot of reasons, yes we cut jobs laid people off. Called people back but many did not return. The oil /grain in the Dakotas has made for a slight increase in traffic while having a retention rate that is really low on new hire conductors. Not only are we seeing an increase in hiring ...

Fox is the name of the siding next to the airport. Used to have quite a few industries one of them had the name Henry A. Fox. They distributed beverages. Alot has changed since I railfanned in grand rapids. Most of the industries at fox are torn up or no longer served.

Re: Canadian Pacific trackage rights on Norfolk Southern
I agree it could be done if CP really wanted to but we don't want to at this point. It would make more sense to have both as gateways to the NS. We used to detour trains across the harbor when the belt did bridge work or ns shut down 509 for a small man maintenance blitz. Our right "ended" about the...

Re: Canadian Pacific trackage rights on Norfolk Southern
It is CP 509 to the belt and CP 502 to the harbor but last I knew CP did not have trackage rights from I want to say iirc blue island to Gibson. So any auto traffic run on the harbor only goes NS CP502/IHB CP100 To the Gibson auto yard

Re: Throttle question
JStryker722, your best bet for becoming an engineer is to work your way up through the ranks for a railroad. If that is what you really want to do for a living. Also many railroads are currently looking for conductors. BNSF is currently looking to fill many positions out west especially in the Dakot...

Re: Detroit River rail tunnel
We also destroyed containers in the summer of 08. Tunnel was out of service for a week. This was caused due to the flooding in the midwest and we had many extra trains through Elkhart with containers that usually went up and around lake superior. Also as said before CP is content to move freight wit...

they have more space in the siding at kilgore. plus as far as interchange why run it all the way to schoolcraft (CN), then GDLK from School craft to Klamazoo. from what I recall most of the CN interchange comes from customers worked by the 105. not sure how much goes to Grand Rapids. but Pavillion i...

The 503 used to work Kalamazoo to Wayland (bay Valley) and out to Otsego (U.S. Gypsum) not sure they have used that symbol for sometime. now the traffic to Otsego is worked by the Y100, the night job out of Kalamazoo and Wayland is switched by 303 the KZ-GR turn

Re: crude oil routing ?
Though Chicago is or can be a headache for trains. the Unit oil trains we run through Elkhart out of the Dakota's are hope on and off after being built until they reach there destination with power intact. They may swap power but as far as these trains rarely see a Yard. In the past we when we had l...
