Re: Typo Contest?

About 23 years ago, on a radio station where they were reading typos from newspapers, my favorite one was "Pilot Ejaculates Safely from his Crashing Jet"........  Hmmmmmmmm. It was taken from an english language newspaper in Korea. This was way before the computer/Website era. I never...

Re: Big news. - 611 steam

Hope it happens! Back in the early 90's I was parked at the end of a runway at Detroit's Metro Airport. I was and still am an aviation nut. I saw that there were three times the people that were normally parked there, all with cameras (nope, didn't bring mine that day :( ). Behind us was the old Wab...

Re: Bye Bye Michigan

All the best to you Dane. I don't know if you remember me - I'm a sub teacher aide who took a quick drive up to Owosso and went to see how 1225 was coming along and you ended up being my guide. It was great fun and we also got to meet your dad and his friend as they were in their GLC locomotive as t...

Re: West Michigan RR Abandonment Petition Coming

GREAT shots J T!!!! Wish there were more old inactive tracks to explore. I know they get some revenue from taking out the tracks but sometimes, it's more rustic and historic to leave some tracks in. The tracks tell a story that no historic marker could.
:(
Keep up the great photos!!!!

Re: Woman and child injured by train.

You know, that big bad train appeared out of nowhere with zero warning and attacked that car. If I could steer a train, there isn't a canadian goose alive that I wouldn't try to rid the world of.... And 99.9% of the world would be cheering you on  Amazing those stupid things are protected :rol...

So is it true that "Last Train To Morenci" was the original title of the Monkees' hit "Last Train To Clarksville"?  Sorry, I couldn't resist......

Re: WHY CHASEING STEAM SUCKS DOT COM

And this also happens at air shows. I sometimes go to a show, not as much to take photos but to actually draw the static planes. Always, I get a bunch of people just sitting right in front of the plane I'm trying to draw but the photographers really get upset. Imagine you're taking a great photo of ...

NYC Wolverine equipment 1964

I'd like to know if possible, what kind of equipment (locomotive) was used in 1964 on the NYC Wolverine from Michigan Central station to Grand Central station in NY. My parents and I rode on that train in early June 1964. Ironically, we got as far as Rochester, NY due to a big train wreck and had to...

Re: Cool discovery while lost

The first time I discovered the Clinton/Tecumseh and Lenawee Junction area was in the early/mid 90's and I could swear that the ROW that was along Deerfield Rd. from Lenawee Junction east toward Deerfield still had tracks on it. Quite overgrown but still there. You could see they were not used in ye...

Re: Discoverys off the beaten path

Great pics everyone! Love this thread. Ypsi, so glad you got to explore the Saline tracks and thanks for your pics of the part that I didn't get to explore by the hair salon. I had thought a while back that there were more tracks on the other side of the road. Thanks for posting them! :D

You're all so funny! Yes, I like the idea of the flying pig. I just hope they never do this with a dead person. Honestly, this is just the weirdest thing I've ever seen that I don't even know how to react to this. Keep 'em coming guys! :D

You've heard some people have their dear departed pets stuffed, this goes way overboard. No wonder people think us artists are "kooks". RIP dear Orville.... http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2012-06/video-dutch-artist-turns-his-dead-cat-flying-quadcopter Hope this works..... Linda (yes,...

Re: R.I.P. Davy Jones

I feel like a special part of my childhood has died. I now feel so lucky to have seen all four Monkees perform live in 1967. Yes, at that point, they had already played their own instruments and they were quite good since I'm sure they couldn't hear them selves play with all those girls screaming. R...

Re: Coe RR (Wixom, Commerce TWP, Walled Lake)

Just went on Haggarty last week and the tracks are gone just east of Haggerty and there is a gate in place that keeps four wheeler traffic out. It's just gravel now. Also the grade signals have also been removed. The Halstead road crossing and tracks are gone too. Sad.....but I knew it was going to ...

Re: Custom Train Paintings/Drawings

The first thing I ever drew where my parents could recognize what I was drawing was a train (locomotive). That had to be when I was around 2 or 3. I do have a four year art degree and was a graphic artist for 20 years. But I never left fine art and that's my preferred method of drawing. But I really...
