Re: Preserved American Aggregates Equipment.
I took a picture of the AmerAgg that was at South Lyon in the '90's, long after the pit closed. it was sitting by itself, vandalized. Maybe a year or two later, I saw a crew cutting it up on-site. i'm pretty sure I posted on here, under a whatsis heading. It was maybe a quarter mile from where Peake...

Re: GLC derailment at Oak Grove crossing
i don't know about a derailment, but I did see septic haulers with hoses running across the tracks to 1 or 2 hopper cars every day for most of the week. I figured that somebody left a top hatch open and water got inside. Because of that work, GLC ran at least one long train, 115 cars in the mid-afte...

Re: Study Time....again - A2TC commuter rail project
Numerous grade crossings, many tiny curves, see Byron, Very slow curve at Lakeland Howell is 10? mph with a tight curve coming out of town NB, plus a "nice" S curve north of M59. Permission to cross CSX diamond and CN at Durand, yard speed limit from Pitt to Lennon. 79mph ???? Nice dream... plus any...

The big question is about CN refusing to let 1225 cross their diamond in Durand.

Re: Brighton MI's Former Industries
As I recall the one by CH43 was Thermofil industries. There was a siding there for their hopper cars. It was in use until the 90's I think. It was removed when a local ne'er do-well broke the lock on the switch and sent an EB almost into US23. Shortly, a year or two later, Thermofil sold the propert...

They could put in a twice daily run and call it "The Gambler" as it would go by the casino in Mt Pleasant. Or some others, like Traverse City Hold 'Em....., Ante Up....,

Railpicky: "ALL" selected pictures will have freshly washed/or re-painted (within last 6 months) locomotives, no faded, unusual lighting conditions are permitted or accepted. If you have faded/dirty colors, you must boost saturation at least 100% to achieve the fluorescent dayglo images we accept. B...

Re: Try this with your trusty point-and-shoot
As Ansel Adams said "expose for the shadow detail" "and let the rest of the image fall where it may". I would have bracketed it with a +1ev to start and went up two more steps (more exposure). Overall the image is great, framing, the side/backlit smoke. Your post processing helped quite a bit, but i...

Re: Color profiles in Photoshop for web viewing
Essentially color profiles don't matter on the web, especially if it's a jpg file. jpg's don't store a color profile in the file info. That's why Adobe asks when you open a jpg, what color profile you want to use. Basically the web is sRGB throughout. P.S. I always found Adobe's profiles a pain the ...

Re: Unknown railroad crossing
Steve, I posted the pic in my gallery, trainerd. It's a larger version than the one on the GenWeb page- found it in the pages source code, supposed to be clickable but isn't in FF. That "window" looks like a train order board.
