Amtrak 352 Arriving in Royal OakAfter waiting thirty minutes at Milwaukee Junction, the late Amtrak makes its way into the Royal Oak station. Lights from downtown Royal Oak can be seen behind the train. I hope someone cuts that tree down soon.GTWChrisJan 18, 2010

New and OldOut of all of the Great Lakes freighter pictures I have taken, which is a lot, this one always stands out to me. At the time I was taking the picture I never expected to see both the The St. Marys Challenger and Samuel de Champlain/Innovation in Muskegon, Michigan. Muskegon does get some cement delivered but the dock can only handle one boat at a time. It just so happened that they day I was in Muskegon the St. Marys Challenger was laid up, due to an owner change, and the Samuel de Champlain/Innovation was going to be in the dock as well. This picture portrays the past and future of the laker fleet. Showing the St. Marys Challenger dormant with lines tying the boat to the wall, while the Samuel de Champlain/Innovation sails on by. Unfortunately Lafarge barges have taken over the cement carrying business and the cement steamers are being phased away. As like many other steams running on the lakes the St. Marys Challenger most likely has about five years of service left.GTWChrisDec 04, 2009

Amtrak CEO Joseph BoardmanOn an overcast summer day I headed out to Birmingham Station, I never expect to find myself talking to the CEO of Amtrak that day. Usually I would have never expect Joseph Boardman to be riding on the Wolverine. Birmingham Station is, for the most part, very quite and never gets anything special. As the passengers were detaining they payed no attention to the man, Joseph Boardman, waving his hand at the end of the train. The photo was taken during the Summer of 2009.GTWChrisNov 23, 2009
