Santa Fe C44-9W #621Still decked out in original ATSF Warbonnet colors, BNSF C44-9W #621 leads a nearly new NS SD70M-2 #2676 and dead in tow NS (Conrail) GP40-2 #3004 from Jackson over the Kalamazoo River with mixed freight 39J. The train has just completed making their pickup from Botsford Yard and is now waiting for northbound 36E for Grand Rapids to clear Gibson so the switch can be realigned and they can proceed south. BNSF power has been fairly common on these trains recently. 39J had 86 cars in this March 31, 2006 photo. GP30M421607/13/12 at 23:00nssd70m-2: Nice Lashup!

Conrail GP38-2 #5262Unusual "Operation Lifesaver" scheme GP38-2 #5262 mingles with other Conrail painted power on the old roundhouse leads at the west end of Kalamazoo's Botsford Yard in the morning sunshine. This is a bastion for Conrail painted GP40-2s, and this 38-2 adds some variety to the usual assortment of locomotives based here. It worked for a few weeks on local B-17 before being sent back to Elkhart and elsewhere on the NS System.
